THE SOUL OF RIGA
THE SOUL OF RIGA
The Riga Dome
History and Facts
Built in 1211, Riga Cathedral (the Dome Cathedral) is one of the oldest and largest medieval churches in the Baltic region. Over the centuries it has grown into a rich blend of Romanesque foundations, Gothic verticality, and later Baroque additions — making it a living timeline of Riga’s architecture.

Interesting Fact
The cathedral’s pipe organ, built in 1884, was among the largest in the world at the time of its inauguration and is still famed for its powerful, concert-hall sound.

Author’s Note
At sunset, the cathedral rises like a song — a harmony of faith, time, and architecture.
