THE SOUL OF RIGA
Vanšu Bridge
History and Facts
Completed in 1981, Vanšu Bridge is one of Riga’s most recognizable landmarks. Spanning 595 meters, it connects the Old Town with Pārdaugava and is known for its striking cable-stayed design — the first of its kind in the region.

Interesting Fact
The bridge was once called Gorky Bridge, renamed in 1991 after Latvia regained independence. It remains a favorite spot for photographers and sunset watchers.

Author’s Note
The bridge tower rising into the blue sky represents balance — between engineering precision and poetic simplicity. I captured it in clean light to reveal its architectural rhythm.
