Alley to Freedom — Freedom Monument
History and Facts
The Freedom Monument was unveiled on 18 November 1935, dedicated to Latvia’s independence and freedom. It stands 42.7 meters tall, crowned by the figure of Liberty holding three stars representing Vidzeme, Latgale, and Kurzeme.

Interesting Fact
The monument was funded entirely by public donations. Today it remains Latvia’s most important symbol of independence.
