THE SOUL OF RIGA
Dome Square and St. Peter’s Church Tower
History and Facts
Dome Square is the largest square in Riga’s Old Town. It took shape in the late 19th century when medieval building blocks were cleared to open up the space around Riga Cathedral, and its present form was completed by the 1930s. The square is lined with cafés, historic houses, and museums, while St. Peter’s Church tower (~123 m) rises in the background as one of Riga’s oldest and most iconic landmarks.

Interesting Fact
St. Peter’s spire has been destroyed and rebuilt many times. After World War II, the former wooden structure was replaced with a metal frame, and today the tower includes a main observation deck around 72 meters high.

Author’s Note
I wanted to capture the contrast between the lively everyday rhythm of the square and the timeless presence of the church spire rising above it all.
