THE SOUL OF RIGA
Riga Canal Fountain at Bastejkalns Park
History & Facts
The Riga City Canal was originally part of the medieval moat surrounding the Old Town. In the 19th century, it was transformed into a scenic park area. The fountain has since become one of the key landmarks of Bastejkalns, especially in summer.

Interesting
The canal stretches for 3.2 km, linking the Daugava River with Esplanāde, passing through Riga’s major central parks. Its banks remain a popular spot for walks and relaxation.

Author’s Note
The long exposure turned the fountain into a column of light, adding a magical, almost surreal feeling to the calm park atmosphere.
