THE SOUL OF RIGA
Riga Cathedral – The Largest Church in Latvia
History and Facts
Riga Cathedral, founded in 1211, is the largest medieval church in the Baltics. It once served as the residence of the Archbishop of Riga, later as a center of the Reformation, and today remains a unique mix of Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque, and Art Nouveau architecture.

Interesting Fact
The cathedral’s organ, built in 1884, was once the largest in the world and is still regarded as one of the most magnificent concert organs globally.

Author’s Note
I chose this site because the Cathedral symbolizes for me not only Riga but also the heart of Latvia’s cultural and spiritual life. I wanted to capture it in silence, allowing its grandeur to dominate the square.
