THE SOUL OF RIGA
St Peter’s Church from the River
History and Facts
St Peter’s Church dominates Riga’s skyline with its 123 m spire. The first church on this site dates back to the 13th century, rebuilt multiple times and now one of Riga’s most significant Gothic structures.

Interesting Fact
The tower’s current design was completed in 1973 after earlier versions were destroyed in war and fire. It’s visible from nearly every point along the Daugava.

Author’s Note
Photographed from the riverbank, the church appears framed by trees and morning light — a quiet dialogue between faith, history and nature.
