Riga Dome Cathedral, founded in 1211, features a historic tower clock that has long been part of the city’s skyline. Its golden Roman numerals and ornate hands have been restored several times, preserving this familiar face of Old Riga above the rooftops.

For much of its history, the clock worked as a traditional mechanical system and had to be wound by hand by cathedral caretakers — a quiet routine that kept time moving over the square.
