THE SOUL OF RIGA
Art Nouveau Light
Historical Facts: Riga’s Art Nouveau architecture flourished between 1899 and 1914, coinciding with the city’s economic boom.
Over 800 buildings in central Riga belong to this style — one of the highest concentrations in the world.
The façades, especially on Alberta iela and Elizabetes iela, were designed by architects such as Mikhail Eisenstein and Konstantīns Pēkšēns.

Interesting Fact: Unlike many European cities, Riga’s Art Nouveau buildings were constructed mainly for the local middle class — reflecting both wealth and intellect.

Author’s Note: Each ornament carries a thought; each curve, a breath of the city’s soul.
